Event Details

The Uniondale Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc. (UFEE) in conjunction with the Lighthouse Foundation is proud to present “An Evening with Dr. Cornel West.” The fundraising banquet will be held at the Long Island Marriott Hotel in Uniondale on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 7pm. General admission includes an uplifting speech by distinguished guest speaker and Princeton University professor Dr. Cornel West, a three course meal and entertainment by Uniondale High School’s accomplished jazz band. VIP admission includes an intimate one hour meet and greet with Dr. West from 6pm to 7pm. 

Dr. West, an award winning scholar, professor, author and social commentator, will be discussing, “Shaping the Child in the 21st Century: The role of the community, parents and educators.” Proceeds from the event will benefit UFEE, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. 
 
GENERAL ADMISSION: $50
VIP ADMISSION: $100
Tables are available for purchase.
Each table seats 10 guests.

ABOUT UFEE
The Uniondale Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc. (UFEE) is a non-profit organization that provides financial support to the Uniondale School District. UFEE exists to increase opportunities for Uniondale students by funding educational, youth development and recreational initiatives that enhance and support the school district's mission. Teachers and administrators provide the innovative ideas; UFEE awards grants to transform those ideas into concrete projects that benefit students.

UFEE was founded in 2006 by two Uniondale High School graduates and now has over 15 dedicated alumni on its steering committee. In 2007, UFEE awarded grants to support five initiatives in the Uniondale School District: a multimedia program, a science experimentation program, an entrepreneurial club, a health and wellness initiative and a bilingual literacy initiative.

UFEE is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax deductible.
